Joe Biden’s Dangerous Advice

“Kate, if you want to protect yourself, get a double barreled shotgun,” Biden responded. “I promise you, as I told my wife, we live in an area that’s wooded and somewhat secluded. I said, Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out, put [up] that double barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.”

Shooting into the dark is to kill anything that happens to be there.  Your spouse, a neighbor, a stray pet, Kids out having fun, or lost travelers.  All responsible gun owners know where their rounds will stop.  Gun Control is hitting what you aim at.  If all you want to do is make noise as a warning shot, get a blanks only pistol.

I don’t understand the context of this. Could you offer more?

  2. Here is the interview when Joe Biden answers questions concerning a ban on assault weapons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIuk3G9Xixc

Thanks for caring enough to ask.

Thanks for including that interview. It reminds me something a “Fed” said a few years ago after a subway shooting involving, if I remember correctly, a 9mm loaded with “Black Talon” bullets. This fed said, again if I remember correctly, “I guess we can see now that guns don’t kill people, bullets do.” Just firing up into the air is not a wise thing to do. A shotgun is a good thing to have, but when you fire something like that you’re going to tear-up a wide area and so one really does need to be very aware of what is around your target when you do fire it. Just firing up into the air is not a good idea. If you think you have to, a round or two in somewhat close ground would be better. (When Firing any weapon one should take great care as to surroundings.) I could never hit anything with a shotgun anyway, but I did pretty good with a 1911 A1 45 and an AR-15. But, that was when I was much younger and now-a-days I only shoot with my Canon camera. I am in Colombia and quite often I go hiking alone on mountain trails. It is not uncommon to see soldiers and police with automatic weapons, but what really gets my attention is people with big machetes. I try to stay very far away from those machetes.

      • Never been to Columbia and I am ignorant of your country. I am learning a little from your blog, thanks. Thanks for your thoughtful comments. Please keep up your blog and your comments on mine.

I was born in Alabama and only moved to Colombia about ten years ago. I am a “Gringo.” A few years ago my wife, who is Colombian, and I were in a little place called San Luis in the department of Antioquia. A fellow asked me where I was from and I told him Alabama. He said, “Oh, Forest Gump!”

      • Thanks for the laugh. When my father was in Germany wearing his Stetson he heard several people saying “Look there goes JR”.

        Thank you. I enjoyed that.
