Cutting the deficit

In 2007 candidate Obama promised to cut the deficit by 50% by the end of his first term.  In 2008 the economy collapsed.  If the budget proposal Obama submitted for congressional consideration  in November 2012 had passed the deficit would have been cut by almost 50%.

The Republican controlled House refused to allow this to happen. As a result, when Obama was inaugurated in January of 2013, he had cut the deficit only 30%.

The deficit has fallen every year since Obama took office, even with the economic collapse of 2008. The statements from Speaker of the House Boehner that the deficit is climbing is a lie, he knows it and so do we.  The deficit would be even lower if the Republican House would allow it.
