Concerning the Gun debate, Ted Cruz (and friends) wish to keep only 3 words “must not be infringed” and throw out the words “well regulated” from the second amendment.
The debate over the second amendment must first include the amendment.
Article [II]
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Second, the debate must respect the Supreme Court interpretation must be respected.
Rights come with responsibilities. In the balance of “well regulated” and “must not be infringed” the Supreme Court acknowledged the US citizen’s right to own weapons. The Court also, to Ted Cruz’s (and friends) dismay, gave the responsibility of regulating it to congress.
Ted Cruz and friends shirk their responsibility and are on the side of mass murder and military weapons on the streets in the hands of criminals and the insane.
Ted attempts to clam that regulating other rights is wrong, as in the first amendment. Here is the first amendment.
Article [I]
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Current regulations on free speech include laws concerning liable, slander, inciting to riot, fraud, and the list goes on. All these regulations are constitutional. These laws are regulations passed by a congress willing to accept their constitutional obligations.
Our homes, streets, and neighborhoods are not battlefields, congress needs to act and fulfill their obligations to regulate this “Militia”.
“Woman up and grow some ovaries” Ted. If you can’t figure out your responsibilities call Barack Obama or Nancy Pelosi. They proved they had serious steel when they stood up AGAINST the invasion of Iraq. Or maybe Dianne Feinstein could help you.
